Beverly Hills Cop Test Review Game!

This download is one of my favorite activities to do as we review for our state assessments every year! It is an amazing way to “trick” students into taking a test and working together!

Best of all, this lesson can be used for any subject and any test! Included is a directions sheet, answer sheet pages for 25, 50, and 100 question tests/games and a directions page.

The Beverly Hills Cop Review game has students placed in pairs with a "good cop" who analyzes each question carefully and a "bad cop" who wants to go with his gut and answer each question as quickly as possible. Working together they have to race to complete a test and score above 90%. It creates a wonderful lesson on test-taking strategies and using cooperative learning to prepare for a state assessment, final exam, or any major test!

You can download this lesson here for use in ANY class and ANY subject!

Check out this link for more great review activities, packets, bundles, and games.

New for Teacher Appreciation Week - Snoop Dogg's World History Review!

This fantastic, hilarious cloze reading activity covers 77 major vocabulary terms from the World History topics of the Renaissance, Reformation, Age of Discovery, and Absolute Monarchs.

Each page includes a word bank at the top, and then a reading in which students fill in the blanks. The reading has been translated into "Snoop Speak" to make it a little more fun for your students. Here is a sample paragraph:

"The bootylicious wealth amassed by _____________ weakened tha' church’s authority in Italy. The Catholic Church was also seen as ___________ due ta tha' sale of _____________, which forgave yo sins fo` a price. This was seen as a way ta buy yo way into ____________ , ya feel me?"

My students absolutely LOVE these Snoop review guides and laugh their way through completing them. I know it helps them to remember these key concepts as I hear them quoting it afterwards. It also requires a little more concentration, which increases their reading comprehension.

You can download this today to review before your state assessment, final exams, or to go along with each of these units as you cover them!

Enjoy!

Great Video Resource - The Cloud Biography

As my classes are finishing up our content before state assessments begin and moving toward more reviews. A great resource for short video biographies is the Youtube channel of The Cloud Biography.

Each of their videos are between 2-4 minutes and highlight the essential things students need to know. They seemingly have hundreds of videos on almost every major person from World and US History - including some that are hard to find good information for.

For example, here's one on Robespierre for my World History II students:

Or Susan B. Anthony for US History:

I posted a bunch of them to my class' Blackboard site for students to view at home and will show a couple on the most important people in class. Fantastic because they take up very little class time, but are focused on good content!

Essential Knowledge of the Civil War

Many of my high school students have limited English proficiency and lack the background knowledge that comes with attending school in the US for your entire life. To help them grasp large topics, I created simple to read, 1 page overviews of our unites in American History.

This one (which you can download here) covers the American Civil War. Vocabulary that students need to know if defined and each aspect of the war is explained in simple terms for students so that they do not need to rely on background knowledge.

The 2nd page is a worksheet of 8 open-ended and multiple choice questions based off the reading. These questions guide students toward the essential information they need to know.

Here are some sample images of what the worksheet looks like:

This worksheet can be download by clicking here. Hope you can find this useful for your students.
