Propaganda from North Korea and the Korean War Activity

This amazing activity on the Korean War utilizes incredibly hard-to-find documents from a rare North Korean museum guidebook to analyze the Korean War from North Korea’s viewpoint!
These images and documents give a fascinating insight into the hyper-propagandistic perspective of North Korea and why the current regime is so antagonistic toward the United States.
With the current tension over Kim Jong-un’s threats and missile tests, this is a wonderful resource for you to use in your classes!
Included in this one download are:
  • A 2 page worksheet for students to use
  • One page of directions and suggested lesson extension activities
  • 20 pages of documents from the “Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum” in Pyongyang, North Korea (DPRK)!

The “Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum” in Pyongyang is entirely dedicated to showing how North Korea "humiliated" the United States in a crushing defeat. It covers over 500,000 square feet, with 18 halls of 80 showrooms all on the “Fatherland Liberation War”.
This is a rare opportunity to get a glimpse of an entirely different perspective of US or World History and a truly a fascinating lesson. The activities can be adapted for AP or IB classes down through traditional middle school students based on the suggested extensions and included resources!

Inside North Korea Lesson Plan Resources for The Interview

Ever since the Sony hack and reports that North Korea attempted to disrupt the release of Seth Rogen & James Franco's new movie The Interview, my students have been really curious about what North Korea is really like.

Fortunately, my brother was lucky enough to travel there years ago. He visited the "Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum" in Pyongyang to learn about their perspective on the Korean War (which you can pretty much get right from the title) and brought back some amazing resources.

I put them together to create this awesome lesson plan on the Korean War from North Korea's perspective. Students analyze a set of documents and images from North Korea and compare them to how their own textbook describes the conflict and results. The lesson includes 20 pages of images and documents along with a document analysis worksheet, and suggested extension activities.

This is a really great, engaging lesson plan to help your students understand North Korea. You can download it for use in your classroom by clicking here

"What awaits US imperialist aggressors is only defeat and death!"
